Bletchley Park Brainteasers

This book contains a wealth of historic anecdotes and artefacts about the world of puzzles and puzzlers from the last century, from giving an insight into how a generation of coders helped win the war to the most challenging of crosswords that have been created (with the answers!)

Visit a Maze

The first maze in recorded history was in Ancient Eqypt, with famous ones through the ages including the mythological minotar’s labryinth and the hedge maze at the Overlook hotel in the Shining. There’s plenty of real ones to visit: a whole compendium of mazes

Crosswords & Sudokus

Both easy-to-find puzzles found in most magazines and newspapers (the Guardian is our favourite), these are fun, deeply engaging and have been shown to slow mental ageing, and in term longevity.

Visit a Puzzle named cafe/pub

See if you can find a cafe or pub named after a puzzle, or with the word puzzle in it ( a puzzle in itself for some places..) We found one between the Edgware Road and Paddington: a lovely little pub called The Monkey Puzzle boasting a secluded garden with monkey puzzle tree at the gate.

Lateral thinking puzzles

See if you can solve the riddles, conundrums and lateral thinking puzzles on this website.  Like crosswords, testing your mind is good brain exercise and there’s nothing like the feeling of cracking a code or finding a solution!
