Herbal Tea and Crosswords

Come and join us for an afternoon of drinking herbal tea and reading, chatting and trying the odd crossword or two.  18th March at Talk of Tea.  Please do add comments to box below if you know of any good places to drink fine herbal teas!

Curry leaf cafe/restaurant

In Brighton we have the Bayleaf, Coriander and Curry leaf restaurants all 10 minutes from each other!  Whether it’s Indian cuisine, standard fayre or more herbal remedy based food, a herb-named restaurant may provide you with a whole new experience and favourite dish.

Read a Complete Herbal

Adam and I had breakfast this month at Nicholas Culpeper’s at Gatwick airport. Only after we left did we find out the synchronicity: he was a renowned herbalist who wrote Culpeper’s Complete Herbal

Heal with Herbs

Adam fell off his bike and wounded his leg-flesh. We researched herbal healing for wounds and it recommended the ‘wonder’ herb that grows on the South Downs, yarrow. We bandaged yarrow to his marrow and now he’s feeling sprightly as ever. Whatever your ailment, a herb can help!

Thyme restaurant, Brighton

Unknown to many, the Premiere Inn (on North Street) has a roof terraced restaurant named after a much loved herb, thyme.  If you live in Brighton, is it thyme to visit…?

Take a ‘Herbal High’

CBD oil is a legal derivative of marijuana and boasts a number of health and wellbeing benefits.

Visit your local garden centre

Your local garden centre will probably have a whole host of herbs you may never have seen or thought of trying, from holy basil to borage, chocolate mint to melissa.  You can even buy a few pots and start your own  herb garden in the corner of your garden or balcony.

Name that herb!

Sporcle is a fantastic way to learn all the elements of a new theme against a clock – this one tests your knowledge of herbs and spices by their image.
